Minimalist 16% Vitamin C Face Serum With Fullerenes, Vit E, & Ferulic - Review. I Used Minimalist 16% Vitamin C serum for 30 Days

Hello everyone! Hoping life’s been treating you well. I have not much experience with vitamin C products except for The Ordinary 100% L-ascorbic acid powder which I loved to mix into The Inkey List Hyaluronic acid serum and apply. Though a bit irritating it gave me amazing glow and evened out my complexion. But that’s an old tale, around 4 years ago. Since then I never tried anything else in the category, thanks to my DIY face masks.

A few months back my hormones take a toll and had me have the worst acne of my life, which left uncountable spots and marks on my jawline, chin and cheeks. I also had dark circles and loose skin, hello late 30s! Having heard good reviews of the brand I quickly grabbed their 16% vitamin C serum (it also comes in 10% concentration but I needed to game up). Here are my thoughts after using the serum once a day, in the morning, for 40 days (I am almost done with the bottle).

For the first 10 days I felt a bit of even skin tone.

For the next 20 days I saw quite some glow appearing while my dark circles and darker patches were almost gone.

After 1 month I could confidently say that it has done great job evening out my complexion, vanishing dark circles, and brightening my skin.

What it didn’t do that I was expecting: fading acne marks and making my skin tighter (by producing collagen). I got slight improvement in my Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) but it is hardly noticeable. It does take around 12 weeks for vitamin C to fade marks hence the case. However, it is best to use other high-performance actives to treat PIH and PIE like retinol, glycolic acid, alpha arbutin and tranexamic acid.

Whatsoever it is a nice serum to have, its main constituent is 15% Ethyl Ascorbic Acid which is less irritating, very stable form of Vit C with high absorbency. The serum does not irritate my skin at all, it is very gentle. The consistency is quite runny, almost water-like. The smell is quite bad - you can sniff some sulphur or burnt matchstick, but it fades quick after the application. Even after one and a half month the liquid is still clear with no color or any other oxidation signs.

The other 1% ingredients are vitamin E, Ferulic acid and fullerenes combined. All these antioxidants destroy free radicals in our skin and protect it against harmful chemicals, sun rays and environmental damage. More on these ingredients in some other post.

Will I buy it again? May be no because I want some better vitamin C product to boost my collagen. May be yes since it is a potent, no-irritation daily-use serum that keeps my skin glowing.

What are your thoughts on it? Would love to hear your story.
